Notable band accomplishments
this year:

Concert Band
Sixteen students performed in the North Area Honors Band.
Seventeen students earned 13 Superior ratings at FBA solo/ensemble
festival.
Twenty Five students earned a position in the North Area Honors
Band.
One student eardned a position at the
All State Honors Band
Jazz Band
Straight "Superior" ratings
at the FBA Jazz Performance Assessment
for the third year in a row.
Received certificates of appreciation
from Walt Disney World for their
outstanding performance in the Downtown Disney Festival of the
Masters Art
Festival and the three-hour jazz workshop given just for them
by Disney
professionals.
Four students
earned a position in the All County Jazz Band.
Marching Band
Awarded the "Best Middle School Band"
trophy for the third straight year in
the Coral Springs Holiday Parade.
Awarded "Best Musical Marching Entry" in the 67th annual
Orange
Blossom Parade in Davie, Florida. Two other middle school bands
and seven
high school bands were in competition for this trophy and our
great SSMS
students won!

Straight "A" Superior rating
at FBA Performance Assessment for the first
time in school history.
Nineteen students performed in the North Area Honors Band.
Seventeen students earned 21 Superior ratings at FBA solo/ensemble
festival.
Four students earned a position in the All County Honors Band.
Jazz Band
Performed for the Nova Southeastern University
Learning in Retirement
Center. They were warmly received and greatly appreciated.
Received a plaque of appreciation from
the Broward County Environmental
Council for their fine performance at the City Center.
Received certificates of appreciation
from Walt Disney World for their
outstanding performance in the Downtown Disney Festival of the
Masters Art
Festival and the three-hour jazz workshop given just for them
by Disney
professionals.
Invited for the second time to perform
in the City Center for the Martin
Luther King Celebration.
Straight "Superior" ratings
at the FBA Jazz Performance Assessment.
Two students earned a position in the
All County Jazz Band.
Performed for the Northern Division Scholar
Athlete Banquet at the Signature
Grand to rave reviews from four school board members.
Marching Band
Performed in the Veterans Day Parade in Margate, Florida.
Awarded the "Best Middle School Band"
trophy for the second straight year in
the Coral Springs Holiday Parade.
Performed in the 66th Annual Orange Blossom
Parade in Davie, Florida.
Invited for the second straight year to
perform in a parade at Universal
Orlando Islands of Adventure, May 30, 2003.
Everyone is invited to see these fine
bands in concert at Stoneman Douglas
High School on June 2, 2003 at 7:00 p.m. Jazz will begin at 6:40
p.m.
